Torabuki are a closed species owned by HiddenTape on DeviantArt.
I have three:
Kassandra
Slinky
Slinky's mother had wandered out of the dense forest hurt and very pregnant. The townsfolk just managed to safely deliver her baby before she died. Slinky soon became the mascot and protector of a nearby shrine. The people were very superstitious and thought she might be some kind of spirit, so they housed her and fed her. Slinky is basically worshipped by the people who live around the Temple. In return, she'll usually chase away tigers, crop damaging animals, and the occasional bandit. Her favorite part is playing with the kids. She may look scary, but really she's a giant kitty-cat. (And all of the children have been warned, in no uncertain terms, not to pull her ears.)
Agravaine
Agravaine doesn't like humans very much. By extension, he doesn't like clothing very much. It's too 'human' for him. He also hates having his movements restricted. However, he will let you bedeck him in flowers. --And then eat you. His hobby, when not luring stupid humans around, is to nap. He can sleep almost anywhere, at any time. It's a learned habit from his lab days. You got sleep when you could get it.
This is how Agravaine hunts. He lures in humans using his good looks, then when they're lost and all turned around he turns on them and eats them. Agravaine isn't very family friendly.
There's this thing called vaporwave, and one of the challenges was to draw a vaporwave inspired piece. I tried hard to think of a good way to do it, but vaporwave is so non-linear I couldn't quite think of something myself. In the end I got this, which at least gives the feel of vaporwave.
Candy gore has always been a genre I wanted to get into, and Agravaine gave me the perfect opportunity. I'm really happy with this and so is Agravaine.

Agravaine was created in a lab. He was designed as a pet- to be small and companionable; to be beautiful; to appeal maybe to little girls (unicorn). Unfortunately, the scientists weren't very nice to him and it soured him. To this day he distrusts humans and will gladly hunt and eat them. He also hates being cooped up and having his movements restricted. A little claustrophobic?
Due to this upbringing, all he has to rely on are his instincts. He doesn't know anything about other animals (much less other Toras) or plants or anything outside bare survival. Despite how much he likes to sleep, Agravaine does have this nightmare often. He's back in the lab- in that empty white room. The walls slowly start closing in on him. He can't breathe. There's not enough air... And then he wakes, soaked in sweat. |
Agravaine's never seen another Torabuki before. He's completely confused. What should he do? Are they friendly? Do we fight? From the shadows, he hides and watches (though it seems he doesn't hide very well).
Oh man, Kolton is hard to color. I put my all into him though. It's my fault for choosing to paint him. I didn't want to put Agravaine with Slinky though, because she's on the other side of the planet. |
